In the USA, Memorial Day signifies the beginning of summer. In many part of this country, swimming pools open and summer resorts brace themselves for the onslaught of visitors. We also honor and remember those who gave "their last full measure of devotion" for their country. Many of us visit military and civilian cemeteries to pay special tribute to those our families and friends have lost in war and peace.

Summer time also means that Independence Day, July 4, is just around the corner with Labor Day on the time horizon. The 68th anniversary of the Guadalcanal invasion is August 7, 2010. The 65th anniversary of the end of WW-II is September 2, 2010.

Hello everyone!

May 2010 is here. Spring is in the minds of many people living in the Northern Hemisphere and fall for those who live in the Southern Hemisphere. Next to fall, spring is my favorite season with new life beginning everywhere.

1. Last month I made a presentation about the Battles for Guadalcanal and my book, Morning of the Rising Sun: The Heroic Story of the Battles for Guadalcanal, at the California Military History Museum on Saturday, April 24. My wife and I found it rewarding and educational.

3. The latest reviews of my book can be seen on my website here. You can also download a copy of these here.
4. Some of you may have noticed that some of the retailers who sell my book vary their prices frequently of the printed and E-Book versions. They do so at their own discretion. Therefore, I put a footnote on my price list that says you should check the sellers' web sites to get their most recent prices. You can be assured that the prices of autographed copies of my book, which I sell personally, will be the latest.
