Today is Memorial Day, 2009 in the United States. We Americans commemorate this day by paying homage to those who gave, as Abraham Lincoln said, "their last full measure of devotion" for their families and our country.
I know what I will do today. The Stars and Stripes will fly in the front of my home. I’ll say the Kaddish for all those brave souls who rest in peace in cemeteries and many unknown places around the world. I’ll drink to their lives and their sacrifice to keep our country free and enjoy my family this day with a classic American ritual – a backyard Bar-B-Q of hot dogs, buns, potato salad, mustard, ketchup, chopped onions, and the limited consumption of light adult beverages.
I hope all of you enjoy this day as will my family and I.
Many regards to you all.
