How to get a Relative's Service Record
The most frequent request for information asked of me comes from people who want to know if anyone knew a relative of theirs who served in World War II. They also want to know if I have any information about them.
I almost always recommend they begin their search by going to the U.S. National Archives' web site here and request a copy of that veteran's service record. If you are one of the veteran's blood relatives, you have a good chance that you can get a copy of his or her service record.

February 2010 Update
Hello everyone,
The first month of 2010 has ended, and a new one begins. This month has a special day, St. Valentines Day. It is customary for people to give gifts to their loved ones to celebrate this day. I have a suggestion.
With a bitter winter cold still gripping much of the northern hemisphere, why not give a good book about military history to that favorite history buff of yours. My critically acclaimed book, Morning of the Rising Sun: The Heroic Story of the Battles for Guadalcanal, is one that is just right for that special person to read in the warm comfort of their home when the weather is just too cold to go outside.
My book is available for sale from several sources and at various prices. For the latest prices and where you can purchase your copy, the price list can be found on my web site here. Or you may download the PDF files of the price list here and the price list an attached errata sheet here.
Enjoy this month!!
